Promise by Frederic Malle is a masterful creation by perfumer Dominique Ropion part of the Desert Gems collection. It captures the nobility and mystery of oud without using real oud instead it uses cypriol (nagarmotha) to evoke that rich earthy depth.
The fragrance opens with a crisp burst of green apple layered with pink pepper and aromatic rosemary inviting vibrant and slightly spicy. In its heart two lush roses take the stage Bulgarian rose oil and Turkish rose absolute accentuated by a warm clove spice nuance. The base is where the magic deepens rich patchouli labdanum ambroxan and cypriol (nagarmotha) intertwine to form a sensual woody resinous trail that lingers long.
